HDTV Projection TV - How About A Toshiba For Your Home?
When it comes to television, things could not be more dynamic. While televisions a couple of tens of years ago were simple compared to today’s huge screens, they were considered the latest technology back then nonetheless. Perhaps one day today’s digital HDTV projection TVs will be seen as old, but they are currently offering the best image quality you can get from a large screen TV.
People demand more and more quality, larger screen sizes and realistic sound from their TV sets. With the demand for large screen sets on the rise, it should come as no surprise that their prices have dropped significantly, making them affordable. While a few years back a HDTV projection TV could only be bought for many thousands of dollars, perhaps over $10,000, you can now buy a 52 inch set for as little as $1,300. In the same time the technologies used have evolved significantly, meaning that many of the downsides of the first generation of rear projection TVs are now gone. In fact, if you compare a modern projection TV with a unit belonging to the first series you will find few similarities when it comes to specifications and image quality.
The main advantage a rear projection TV offers is its huge screen. You cannot find a similar screen size for the same price of a rear projection TV set. Because more and more movies are launched in HDTV format, rear projection TV manufacturers, such as Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic or Samsung are offering their models with full HDTV support. While smaller size LCD screens, for example, only offer 720p HDTV compliance, large screen projection TVs offer full 1080p compliance. For example, some of the smallest HDTV projection TVs that can be found on the market today measure 36 or 42 inches across, offering an incredible resolution and image output.
One of the main disadvantages customers found in earlier projection TVs were the blind spots that appeared in the screen after prolonged use due to the short lifespan of their lamps. New projection TVs offer significantly longer lifespan, meaning you can actually forget your TV is running on powerful lamps. At the same time, the first models were quite loud once the cooling fans were active. Modern HDTV projection TVs use smarter cooling solutions in combination with energy saving lamps or LEDs, that translates into a much cooler operation. Manufacturers also use new TV tunner models, meaning that TV channels can be received with much higher quality. You can connect all sorts of video sources to your rear projection TV (a personal computer or laptop, a DVD player, Blue-Ray HD players, or older VHS cassette players), making them a very versatile solution. All in all, if you are looking for a large screen TV set, a unit to offer you a great image quality and superb resolution, all these for less than a similar plasma, a HDTV rear projection TV can be the best solution for you. Compare the prices and their specifications before buying a HDTV projection TV to make sure you have made the best possible choice.

| Review by R. M. Thomas (MILLVILLE, NJ, US) 2010-02-22 Picture quality is good not great, non-digital channels are bad. The main reason I returned it was because of a high pitch noise that is pretty audible when the TV is off. I was really disappointed because I was expecting the same or better quality as my 5 year old 40" LCD Samsung. Anyway I ended up... Read more reviews | ||
